What is Parent Coaching?“Judy’s coaching helped me rediscover my confidence as a parent. The combination of encouragement and practical tips helped me to weather one of those tricky patches that we all go through as parents” “The seriousness of the conflict has changed dramatically. I’m not nagging, my son is more reflective and when dinner is ready there aren’t a lot of fights. The coaching time to hear each other’s views with you there. Judy was constructive, I would definetly come back to you if we need help in the future.” Parents of 2 teens. “I can only thank you again for helping me to turn her round from the quite frightening little madam she was into the lovely daughter you gave me the confidence to believe she could be. Your help is probably the best thing I have ever spent money on in my life and worth much more than you can ever imagine.”Paediatrician and Dad, 3 children under 7 “I have found my sessions with Judy have been a great investment. Its been great to confide in someone with plenty of experience of helping families before. Some of the concepts I’ve found really helpful were: learning to be real and honest with my children to (to a point) about how I am feeling if I’m struggling with the frustrations that arise with a 2 and 4 year old, to identify with my children on feelings of anger and upset and say ‘its fine to be cross’ but helping them with how they go on to handle them. Practical solutions and ideas to teaching my son to put his clothes on, eat breakfast and encouraging my daughter to be more gentle. Coaching really helped as there is the follow up and discussion on how tactics have worked and any adaptions made. Judy’s style is very open, honest and encouraging and I particularly appreciated that as well. ” Mum, pregnant with Number 3 and two small children “Thank you so much for all the work you did with my husband and I, both individually and together. It was really invaluable and we both came away with lots of things to think about and lots of ideas to try out.” Parents of 4 children, under 10. “I have genuinely reaped long lasting rewards and found the few sessions and their outcome helped me think positively about myself and my abilityto make good decisions. It also helped me to confirm what matters to me and what fires me. I left my job and now have a’portfolio’ of aspects to my life, including two paid elements and three charitable roles, as well as continuing my professional development with some training, and of course running a home and family! Sometimes it all feels too much but most of thetime I honestly feel that I have a great balance and I’m very happy.” Parent – parenting and life coach client ‘During our time with you we have noticed a positive shift. A subtle and organic one. We as parents are more aware than ever. For this we are very grateful.” Parents of 9 year old. |
We all make resolutions and promises to change. Parents say “I’m going to stop shouting and nagging” or “If only I could just trust my teenager” but how often do these ideals or goals really last? Reading parenting books and talking with friends and family can be helpful, but what do you need to really make the changes you want as a parent and feel your confidence grow? As your Parent Coach I will work with you to identify what you want to achieve and then support you to reach your goals and overcome obstacles along the way. Coaching can be in person, on the phone, or Internet platforms. As a guide, most clients have around six sessions over six months, depending on the kind of issues they want to resolve. Some issues I have coached parents on:
